For whom and why Yap?

If you think about coming on to the Island of Yap for about two weeks, you may probably be thinking and wondering why stay for such a long time. Some folks say "Hey, just Mantas ..., that can be done in 4 days and then on to Palau"

too bad you missed much more than a full Manta cleaning station.

 

Manta Fans:

Manta rays are of course the attraction during the dives/snorkeling. Mantas can be “almost” guaranteed. Just a reminder, that we can never make reservations or bookings with the Mother Nature. Just have to be there at the right time and place.

 

Shark Divers:

Black and white tip reef sharks, grey reef sharks and silky sharks - Yap is the home to numerous species of sharks that you can encounter in the channels and at various dive sites outside the reefs. With luck you might be able to see or take photographs of big species such as deep sea grey sharks or hammer head sharks.

 

Mandarin-Dive:

There are several places where you can watch these colorful species of fish at the beginning of dusk. photographers should have stable nerves to scan the small bustling Reef sex maniacs skillfully.

 

Safety First Divers:

Nitrox for free and best ever. Dive Center-Yap fills the12ltr.  tanks either with air or Nitrox 32%. It's very convenient for those who want to take the best photographs in 30 meters depths, because it's indeed exciting. Diving in deeper sites are not necessarily being dove all the time, only in certain dive sites outside of the atoll. For safety, there is a decompression chamber in Colonia.

 

Freaks of Nature & Culture-Lovers:

Yap has many sites on land featuring its beautiful beaches, big green jungles, magnificent mangroves,  and of course fantastic reefs. There are also stone money banks, stone paths and many many more in villages.

There are no amusement parks here on Yap but you will definitely enjoy the culture. You will enjoy the dancing that the local performs. The wonderful stories they tell about their histories. There are also many sites with the WW II wrecks of planes and others. So if you love culture, this is the place to learn a lot of fun and interesting cultures.

 

Discoverer of the "I have time" capability:

The speed limit on Yap are 25 miles per hour. Yap Time is a unique sensation. Usually people gets where they need to be in about 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. Well here on Yap if you set a meeting in an hour than for sure you will be expecting people showing up in about 2 hours. Yap has a saying for this,

“Hey, come on relax! This is Yap with the Yap Time”.

 

You will enjoy Yap both under and over water.

Manta is not the only wonderful experience that Yap has to offer. Its much more than that. You will definitely enjoy the Giant Mantas to the smallest little stone on the stone path in the village. Your money will NOT go to waste!!!

There is plenty to see. We have more than 40 dive sites as well as Island sites just waiting for your arrival.
